Shelters In Crisis!!
Shelters across the country are in crisis right now, overloaded with unwanted rabbits who are in danger of being euthanized. Blame it on Easter "impulse purchases" or simply the amazing reproductive capabilities of rabbits, but once again this year, If you can find room in your home, please consider helping your local shelter or rescue by adopting or fostering a bunny in need - you'll be saving a life. Literally.

Easter And Bunnies Don't Mix

Please Don't Give Pets As Gifts!!
Shelters and rescues are inundated with animals that were given as gifts to people who didn't really want them and don't know how to take care of them. They expect this year to be no different, beginning on the day after Christmas. Please don't give a live animal as a gift - give a stuffed plush toy instead, or consider making a donation to a rescue or shelter in someone's name as a gift. Just please don't give a live animal as a gift - it requires a lifelong commitment to the pet, and too often they get shortchanged. Thanks!!

These bunnies urgently need your help

3 Bunnies Rabbit Rescue Inc often takes in rabbits that are in need of medical care, have suffered neglect/abuse, or for whom medical issues are discovered once they are in our care. Providing appropriate medical care/rehab can be costly and sometimes a lengthy recovery period is required, in order to help these wonderful buns get a second chance at finding a loving permanent indoor home. To sponsor a rabbit needing extra help, you can make a one time donation, or ongoing support. Any donation amount is appreciated.

Think about making a donation for a sponsorship rabbit in memory of a beloved companion that has gone to the Rainbow Bridge or in someone's name as a birthday gift, anniversary gift, or the like. Hey, get your co-workers/place of employment together, to help give a bun a second chance. You can follow the progess of "your bun" and know you were part of saving a life!!!

If you would like to help some of these buns on their road to recovery, please consider sponsoring one of our buns in need, to help defray medical expenses. If interested, contact us at: info@3bunnies.org, or you can go directly to paypal and make a donation using this general sponsorship link.

We would like to let everyone know how grateful 3 Bunnies is for the support many of our rabbits receive. Those who donate or provide sponsorship ensure these rabbits get the help they need.

All the buns send "binkies and kisses" to everyone that helps give them a second chance.

Dedication

This page is dedicated to the memory of one of our most beloved and avid sponsors, David Lazarus who passed away on October 31, 2008. He leaves behind his beloved Queen Daisy who is now in our care and will live out her life as happy as she can be without him. We love you, we thank you, and we will miss you, David. Our prayers are with you. We will take good care of Queen Daisy, and we've already found a nice friend for her.

It is also in memory of all the bunnies we couldn't help and dedicated to all the bunnies out there who still need to be helped.

This big sweet baby is one of three surviving rabbits recently found at the Twin Brooks Park in Trumbull CT.

The Trumbull ACO was called to the park where 10 dead rabbits were found strewn about. After retrieving all the dead bodies, and returning to the shelter, the ACO was called back to the park, where Spirit was found alive. Thin, covered in filth, and with very bad sore hocks, Spirit was cleaned as best she could be. Taken in by 3 Bunnies, Spirit went for immediate vet care. Stabilized, she returned back to her foster home. Spirit will be going for further vet care, as she finding it difficult to put weight on her back feet. She has bare raw areas on her, a runny eye and is still soiled. Spirit will be in for a long recovery and we are determined to get her through this. What is amazing is, despite what she has been through, Spirit is sweet and lovable. If you would like to help, please consider sponsoring Spirit.

We would also like to thank Mandy at Cotton Tail Rabbit Rescue who took in the other female bun survivor that is in very bad shape. We would also like to thank Rabbit Allies of CT for finding a wonderful volunteer to come forward and offer to cover vet care for the male survivor. Thank you to Linda from Hop A Long Hollow and Dawn of Half Way Home and 3 Bunnies, for contacting the media. Thank you to Trumbull Shelter and the Animal Control Officers.

This adorable Chinchilla Netherland Dwarf mix, 4 years old and 3-4lbs was taken in from a CT shelter. He started to develop a lump on his neck while at the shelter, so they put him on some antibiotics.

Seeing that it was not helping and the lump was getting larger, the shelter took his mate away, and adopted her out. After some time, it was decided that no further medical care would be given, and John Henry was given 5 days to find placement. 3 Bunnies was contacted, and took him in.

Once at our vet, John Henry was diagnosed with an ear infection (we noticed a slight head tilt), for which he is being treated. The mass down his neck was removed, and a biopsy was done. We are waiting to hear if it is a fat tumor or some form of cancer.

Despite what John Henry has been through, he is a sweet, adorable little guy, with a spunky personality. He thinks nothing of jumping right up on your lap and making himself right at home, even deciding to dig at and rearrange your clothes to his liking. Always curious and alert, John Henry does enjoy snuggling up in your neck.

Robert

Jolly is a 3yr old med sized dark grey American. Jenna and Glennis are approx 3 month old white New Zealands. These girls will be on the large size, but what gentle rabbits New Zealands are.

Update February 25, 2008: Robert, being much older than the girls, is sadly, having health issues. Jenna and Glennis are taking good care of Robert, and giving him extra grooming and snuggle sessions.
We will keep everyone updated on Jolly Robert

Jolly Robert, Jenna and Glennis - Oh what a wonderful thing it is!! An adorable trio of bunnies!!

Hi!!! We are such a happy, playful, social bunch. Jenna and I (Glennis) love our "guy" Jolly. He grooms us, and gives our BIG ears lot of kisses. Jolly is so nice to cuddle with, or to do "bunny flops" with. (Jolly rolls on his back with his feet sticking up. It is so funny!) Being babies still, we often zoom around, doing flying leaps, binkies, and bunny dances. WHEW! then we collapse in a sound sleep, knowing our Jolly is right next to us, keeping us safe.

We would love a forever home, and the chance to fill you life with happiness and joy.

Sir Lancelop

A silver white with grey point French Lop mix, approx 8-10lbs and 1.7 yrs old.

We were contacted by a fellow rescuer to Lancelop's situation. He was in need of immediate medical care and a proper living enviorment. He was transported into 3 Bunnies care, and is recieving medical attention. As you can see his eyes have a disharge which has caused his skin to be red/raw and painful. His nail were long and curled with a possible toe or two broken. His teeth also needed tending to. Our vet is giving him the medical care he needs.

Lancelop is such a sweet guy! He gets all "mushy" when you hold him, and it was wonderful to see him do a big long bunny stretch. We expect him to be on the road to recovery, and available for adoption soon.

Gabriel
Click Here To Donate To Gabriel

A sweet gentle white and brown spotted Mini Rex, approx 1 year old.

As you can see, Gabriel has a significant head tilt. He came into 3 Bunnies when his former family decided that they could not pay for vet care, and an area vet had them contact us. His only other option was euthanasia.

Once in our care, it could be better seen just how severe Gabriel's condition was. He could not go but a couple of steps before flipping over and over, only to finally right himself by leaning against the side of his cage. He would shake and be exhausted from the effort to stay upright. Uncertain of his prognosis, he spent a couple of days at the vet hospital, where he was diagnosed with a deep inner ear infection. This had been left untreated for several months.

Gabriel has been receiving oral meds along with ear meds, and frequent vet checks. He is showing some improvement (no longer flipping over), but it will take time to see just how much better he does get. Through out, Gabriel has had a great appetite, and loves attention, even giving kisses! He has a zest for life.

Please consider helping Gabriel by making a sponsorship donation. Whether small or large, every penny can make a difference and help to offset his vet expenses. If you would like to make a donation directly to the vet hospital, please contact us. Thank You

3 Bunnies In Pets Press Newspaper

3 Bunnies Rabbit Rescue has been in Pets Press monthly newspaper. We list an adoptable rabbit/s and put in an ad. We are sometimes featured in other areas of the paper and are often asked rabbit questions of the paper when they are writing articles. Susan Curtiss answers the bunny expert questions in the paper. To find out where to get this free newspaper, go to www.petspress.net. You can also subscribe to the paper and get it delivered in the mail. It is a great pet resource paper and some of our local, fellow rescues are also in it.
